Springtime

Splashing waves of golden light
Dislodges  moon from its height
Springy clouds loose and white
Traverse the steely bridge of night

Red-winged blackbirds whirl and search
For the tallest cattails to make their perch
Swinging wind-chased branches lurch
pushing skyward in sunlight’s rolling surge

As awkward as a newborn fledge
My toddler climbs upon the window’s ledge
Lured by sunburst kisses along its edge
Springtime blesses with its golden  pledge
